如果洞穴系統不合適，在地下沙漠中尋找高爾夫球手會有些困難，哪怕是帶着生命體分析機。狩獵藥水有助於找到他。
由於在困難模式中地下沙漠生成的敵怪要困難得多，因此在進入困難模式之前去尋找高爾夫球手危險會比較小。
在專家模式和大師模式中營救高爾夫球手會更加困難，所以如果聽到呼痛的聲音或者看到傷害數字顯示，應該儘快趕往他所處位置。
可以通過手工創建地下沙漠來在 1.3.0.1 之前的世界中生成高爾夫球手。只需要建造一些能讓敵怪生成的物塊，然後從這些物塊背後開始向上放置 50 格高的沙岩牆。然後這些牆必須轉換為相應的腐化、猩紅、或神聖版本（例如用環境改造槍；並不要求再將其轉回純淨版本）。這會讓這些背景牆變成「自然生成」的牆，這就能讓特定於特定於生物群落的敵怪生成，包括高爾夫球手。

雖然高爾夫球手的的話語說高爾夫球會受到風速的影響，但在泰拉瑞亞中並非如此。
高爾夫球手是受到了是現實中的職業高爾夫球手 Tiger Woods（老虎伍茲）的一點啟發，之所以引入是因為需要有一個 NPC 來出售和高爾夫有關的的物品。^[1]
他出現在地下沙漠可能是參考了打高爾夫時會困在沙坑中的事。
高爾夫球手首次亮相是在10月 1, 2018 Re-Logic 在 YouTube 上發佈的城鎮夜晚預告片中。
一旦玩家的高爾夫分數達到 2000，他就會同時出售總計 39 件物品。如果他足夠快樂，還會出售一個晶塔，將他的銷售貨品湊到整整 40 件。他和酒館老闆並列為出售物品最多的 NPC。
- 但是，在任意時刻，沒有某些先決條件的情況下，出售物品最多的 NPC 是聖誕老人，有 39 個物品。
- 當他的商店有 39 件或更多物品時，賣給高爾夫球手的物品就無法再買回。
根據 Redigit 的說法，高爾夫球手是動物學家的哥哥，他的一些話語提到了這點。^[2]
