染料商是个出售染缸和其他与染料有关的物品的 NPC。一旦以下条件全部满足他就会搬进来：

有一间空房屋。
玩家物品栏中有任意用于制作染料的材料（如黄万寿菊）。
以下之一：

已经得到了奇异植物并且在玩家的物品栏中。
已打败困难模式之前的四大 Boss 中的任意一个：克苏鲁之眼、骷髅王、或世界吞噬怪 / 克苏鲁之脑，取决于世界是腐化还是猩红。

除了出售与染料有关的物品，玩家还可以用奇异植物来交换无法制作或无法购买的动态染料。每个奇异植物可以交换一个此类染料，三个一组进行交换。

在 Desktop version, Console version, Mobile version, Nintendo Switch version, and tModLoader version中，染料商会用异域弯刀攻击附近的敌怪来自卫。他在死亡时还可能会掉落此武器。

奇异植物任务

和染料商说话会看到“奇异植物”任务，在其中染料商要求玩家为他取来罕见的植物。作为回报，他会奖励给玩家 3 瓶其他方式无法获得的特殊染料。随着游戏推进，会出现更多此类染料。

备注

染料商在Nintendo 3DS version中并不出现，因为此平台无法渲染染料。
染料商是男性，虽然他经常被误认为是女性。可以用国王雕像来召唤他以证明这点。

花絮

Ahirom、 Abdosir、 Hiram、 Batnoam 和 Hanno 是古代腓尼基国王和王后的名字。腓尼基是东地中海帝国，靠从浅海螺类中提取的紫染料而变得富有。在游戏中，海蜗牛会掉落紫染料的材料。
他在一句话语中关于“是吧是吧（Yes Yes）”的评论可能参考了《动物之森（Animal Crossing）》系列中的狸吉（Tom Nook），他在各种情况下都经常说这句话。
